Adidas Philippine Flag Jackets

What is the cost of nationalism? In some cases, it's $85 for an Adidas Philippine Flag jacket.

I caught a glimpse of that cool Philippine flag front design on an Adidas jacket. I forgot what showbiz show was on TV, because I was just walking by.

And then I found out the jacket costs P4,600 or $85.

It's great to know that there are quite a number of people who don't feel that the Philippine flag looks corny, or that the youth are proud of our flag. True, some folks won't bother to stand in moviehouses while the Philippine national anthem plays. And yes, there are Filipinos who can't even sing the Lupang Hinirang properly.

Yet knowing that there are young folks who feel that wearing a Philippine flag-inspired jacket is cool makes me smile. Imagine that. Nationalism is not just some rah-rah, stand proud, don't take dirt from anybody, kind of fervor.

Nationalism has now become... cool.
