Excel 2007 Can't Multiply

It looks like Excel 2007 can't multiply 850 by 77.

Instead of showing 65,535 Excel 2007 miscalculates and shows 100,000 instead. Another test reveals, however, that Excel stumbles with over ten thousand simple calculations.

I did the other tests in AppScout.com's Excel Can't Multiply, and am happy to find that MS Excel 2000 knows how to multiply.

So if you rushed off and upgraded to Excel 2007, you might want to check if your software was awake during grade school math class. And just in case it wasn't, don't worry. Soon, Excel will learn to multiply.

Which reminds me. I'd better check the spreadsheet multiplication skills of OpenOffice and Lotus Symphony.

UPDATE: Excel Calculation Issue Update. -- (Sept 25, 2007) "We've come up with a fix for this issue and are in the final phases of a broad test pass in order to ensure that the fix works and doesn’t introduce any additional issues - especially any other calculation issues. This fix then needs to make its way through our official build lab and onto a download site - which we expect to happen very soon. We'll add another post once that's taken place with a link to the download."
