Tips for Travel Agents

Do you work in a travel agency seeking clients via the internet? Try these tips for a smoother e-commerce experience...

1. Email letter-size documents. I received a Word document and quickly printed it, only to be dismayed when I discovered certain sections (i.e., the price) were not printed. The culprit? The document was set-up as Legal size (8.5" x 14") but the only paper I have near the printer is Letter size (8.5" x 11")

2. Send generic files. Generic files are those which can be read by most computers. For example, GIF and JPG image files, or PDF files. Please do not send huge PMD files because not everyone has PageMaker.

3. Use fonts appropriate for your target market. If you are selling travel packages for seniors, please use larger fonts in your documents. No, Arial 10 is not considered large. Go for Arial 12. Other more or less standard fonts are Times New Roman. Please avoid using fonts most likely found only in your computer.

Here's to a happier online experience for both travel agents and travelers!
