Ebook Compiler Hypermaker 3000.30 Released

Bersoft.com releases Hypermaker 3000.30, the latest version of its ebook compiler.

An ebook compiler is a program that takes various html files, images, PDFs, sound files and other files related to web pages, and then combines all these into a single EXE file. You can then send that single file to your peers or even customers.

It's like an entire multimedia web site in a single file.

Hypermaker is a website Compiler for Windows 95/98/98SE/ME/NT/2000/XP. It transforms HTML documents into self-contained publications or eBooks that do not require a browser and can be used without previous installation.

You can even password-protect ebooks compiled using Hypermaker, and increase the security level by tying the password to a specific computer. This means that even if the EXE file is copied and passed along to others, the password will not open an ebook unless the ebook is opened in the original customer's computer.

For ebook publishers wondering how they can protect their ebook from piracy, this is one solution. Please take note, however, that this added layer of security (DRM) can spawn additional problems in the form of customer service (i.e., forgotten passwords).

Hypermaker is the first ebook compiler I've come across that says it has improved compatibility with Windows Vista. I wonder if we will see a resurgence of ebook publishers who prefer the EXE format in the coming months.

(Personally, I prefer to produce both PDF and EXE ebooks.)
