Poetry Reading, Maningning Miclat Art Awards

Did the party (an evening of poetry, music and visual arts) for Maningning Miclat push through last Friday, Sept. 29, 2006 at Liongoren Gallery, 111 New York St., Cubao, Quezon City?

Too bad, I was not able to attend.

Otherwise, I would have had the chance to meet the outstanding young artists in this 2006 Maningning Miclat Art Awards, and to also hear the winners of the 2005 Maningning Miclat Poetry Awards -- Allan Pastrana, Joseph Luna de Saguid, Catherine Candano, EJ Galang, Ayer Arguelles and Sonny Sendon -- read their poems.

It would have also been interesting to hear veteran poets like Teo Antonio, Becky Anonuevo, Shirley Lua, James Na, Mike Coroza and Nerisa del Carmen Guevara remember Maningning through their poems for and about her.

I was told that music will be provided by Aba Dalena (is she related to National Artist Danilo Dalena?) and her Rock Bato and the piano and violin duo, artist Pablo Baens Santos and law stude Pambie Herrera.

Does anyone know if this pushed through?
