Popular Grandpa in YouTube

Who says online video is just for the teens? A 79-year old grandfather is now a YouTube star.

YouTube is a free online video sharing service that allows people to easily share their videos online. It's also a place where a lot of video enthusiasts congregate and view one another's videos.

In other words, if you want to post your video online and have thousands of people see it, post it in YouTube. But be prepared for nasty comments...

...or even comments of love and endearment.

Peter is a Briton who goes by the nickname geriatric1927 in YouTube, and young people have been asking about his life and his experiences during World War II.

In the Philippines, it would be interesting if young people will help their grandparents share their stories online via YouTube. They can talk about the games they played, the movies they watched, or even how life was in the province.

Or you can ask them to share folktales, legends, or myths told to them by their parents and grandparents.

I hope this online video phenomenon helps us Filipinos preserve and share a part of our Philippine culture, while strengthening the bond between parents and children, and grandparents and grandchildren.
