SMART 3G and Nokia N70

Looks like a lot of people are subscribing to SMART's 3G service because they want to own a Nokia N70.

So I asked my friend Erwin what SMART 3G activities he does with his Nokia N70, and here's what he said:

1. Make video calls.
2. Surf to the SMART 3G Portal and watch television shows (GMA 7, ABS-CBN).
3. Protect it from cell phone viruses.
4. Check e-mail. Occasionally.

What about taking photos and videos on your phone? Hardly, says Erwin.

So it looks like I won't be in too much of a hurry to make web sites wap-friendly. At least, not just yet.

Afterall, there are online services that will quickly convert your site into cell phone-friendly text. And there's also the question of what makes a site worth visiting by mobile users. What kind of text do 3G subscribers want to read anyway?

Perhaps it will be jokes, quick or short stories, and anything that will help fill their time. Specifically, anything to cover those two- or three-minute moments when people have nothing to do (i.e., while waiting for a meeting to start, waiting for their food to be served, waiting at the airport).

I wonder how much time people spend waiting. And if you take a moment and observe people, you'll notice they'll whip out their cell phones and try to start some kind of sms text chat. Failing that, they'll probably just click on the phone buttons just so that others won't notice that they're not doing anything at all.

With cell phones, Pinoys just want to keep in touch. Whether it's by basic sms text, voice calls, or video calls, or even by catching up with the latest news stories or television shows, people want to stay connected.

So, if you want to stay connected with the help of an affordable Nokia N70, head on over to your nearest SMART business center and check out their 3G promo. It will last only until July 31, 2006.
