W.I.T.C.H. and the Heart of Kandrakar

W.I.T.C.H. (comic book/magazine) premiered in the Philippines last July/August 2002. I know, I know, I'm late... But I can't ignore my 30-something friends with their noses in these nicely-drawn anime-styled comicbooks.

Episode #1 introduces five girls who will serve as guardians of some wall in Kandrakar, plus they have to seal something like 12 doors or portals.

The main characters are:

Will Vandom
Irma Lair
Taranee Cook
Cornelia Hale (bday - May 17)
Hay Lin

...and Elyon Portrait.

These girls have magical powers, which probably explains why it's such a hit among teenagers here.

(Harry Potter is also quite popular in the Philippines.)

The latest book I've seen is Episode #5. Luckily, I was able to get back issues for #1, #2, and #3. For some strange reason, #4 hasn't been "reprinted" yet (according to a magazine stand vendor).

Is this just a fad here in Manila? Let's just wait and see. In Europe, there are at least two seasons of W.I.T.C.H. (each season contains 12 episodes).

Black Spring - found in the Abyss of Shadows, those who drink from this spring will live in the palace and will become a Whisperer of Phobos.

Galgheita - wet nurse who helped the parents of Elyon escape to Earth. Galgheita was the name of Prof. Rudolph in the Metaworld.
