M2M

M2M? Machine-to-mobile, mobile-to-machine, machine-to-machine. With the wild popularity of cellphones here in the Philippines, particularly when it comes to SMS or txting, could monitoring your machines or appliances using your cellphone be far behind?

Early this year, the Philippines saw SMS traffic of around 100,000 messages per day. Last month, it jumped to around 235,000 messages daily, which makes us still the reigning text messaging capital of the world.

Pinoys are slowly getting used to joining contests (trivia) with their cellphones, and since SMS/texting has a clear social, economic, and political impact, it's a trend and not just a passing fad.

So it might be a good idea to read up on M2M:
