Exploratorium San Francisco
During our San Francisco vacation, we visited the Exploratorium, the museum of science, art, and human perception. It's a hands-on, interactive museum which both children and adults will enjoy.
San Francisco Tour
On the day that we went to the Exploratorium, we likewise went to other touristy-spots in San Francisco as the kids were first time visitors. We had to have our photo taken with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background, of course.
Super Sightseeing Tours
We joined a Super Sightseeing Tour to Carmel and Monterey while vacationing in San Francisco. More on the actual tour and destinations in the coming days but here are a few points which I thought are worth noting about the tour operator itself and going on a guided tour, in general.
Monterey Bay Aquarium
Our first stop on the Monterey and Carmel Tour was the Monterey Bay Aquarium. If you are going on this tour, you have a choice of just going around the Monterey area or actually spending the time to go to the Aquarium.
17-Mile Drive and Carmel Tour
After the Monterey Bay Aquarium stop, we proceeded on to the 17-Mile Drive at Pebble Beach, California. There were stops during the drive for bay and ocean views. Suddenly, the Pacific Ocean was not just something Adi would read in his school books.
Riding the BART
BART stands for Bay Area Rapid Transit and is a way that you can get around San Francisco and nearby areas. If you are vacationing with relatives and/or friends, you may want to ask them to take you to the nearest BART station so you can explore on your own.
San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA)
On the day that we rode the BART to the city, we thought we'd do something not too "kiddie" for a change. We decided to check out the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
Yerba Buena Gardens
Yerba Buena is an art and entertainment complex occupying an entire block between 3rd and 4th streets in San Francisco. After visiting the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, we moved on to Yerba Buena Gardens where we leisurely strolled throughout the afternoon.
Colorstrology
When we were at the Metreon in San Francisco, I chanced upon an interesting book entitled: Colorstrology by Michele Bernhardt. It's a colorful, little book (which I didn't purchase in the end) which talks about your birthday color and what characteristics correspond to that color.
San Francisco Tour (Part 2)
We met Rick (who is now San Francisco-based), Manuel's friend, and he kindly took us around the place for a day. We started by having lunch at Mistral, a restaurant located at 370-6 Bridge Parkway, Redwood Shores.
Bubble Toy and Velvet Art
The kids received some gift money while they were in the US and as soon as the money touched their little, itchy hands, they were off to the Discovery Store at the Embarcadero in San Francisco. In that store, the money just went POOF! like magic.
Isobune Burlingame
On the night before we left San Francisco for Manila, my brother and his family treated us to dinner at Isobune Burlingame. Isobune is a sushi boat restaurant located at 1451 Burlingame Avenue, Burlingame California.
So Long, San Francisco
Last May 4, we flew back to Manila from San Francisco. Our last day in San Francisco was spent packing our stuff and doing some last minute shopping for magazines, chocolates, and other pasalubongs.
