The following articles cover the May-June 2008 trip to Boracay, where we stayed at the Boracay Tropics...

Boracay Beach Sandcastle

Boracay Travel: Cebu Pacific Flight to Caticlan (June 20, 2008)
The last time that we were in Boracay for a vacation was in 2001. My daughter Ali had not yet been born then and so it was largely for her benefit that we went to Boracay again this 2008.

Boracay Vacation: Transfers to Boracay Tropics Resort Hotel (June 22, 2008)
As soon as we got to the Caticlan Airport, someone already picked us up to already bring us to Boracay Tropics. We had to go out of the airport first before we saw the guy with a Boracay Tropics sign and our names on it -- together with other names.

Boracay Tropics Resort Hotel (June 27, 2008)
For our Boracay vacation this year, we stayed at Boracay Tropics Resort Hotel. I actually considered several places for this year's trip: Nami Resort, Fairways and BlueWater, and the Tides Resort (also in Boracay); Antulang Resort in Dumaguete; and the Legend Hotel in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

What We Liked About Boracay Tropics Resort Hotel (June 28, 2008)
We begin with the positive things about Boracay Tropics Resort Hotel: It's a 10-minute walk to the main beach. The resort is visually appealing once inside. The staff are friendly but not overly attentive. The pool is perfect. The breakfast buffet is nice and filling. The rate for the massage was reasonable. That's what we liked at Boracay Tropics Resort Hotel.

Boracay Tropics: Areas for Improvement (July 20, 2008)
We now continue with our Boracay series. Sorry for the long break but some topics got in the way. While we generally enjoyed our stay at Boracay Tropics (we wrote about the things we liked in a previous post), there were a few things that we didn't like too much. Some of these things can be improved while the rest are probably things guests will have to live with.

Boracay Vacation: Sunset Turo-Turo and Grill (July 26, 2008)
When vacationing in Boracay, tourists will usually have a wide array of eating places to choose from. On our first night there in May 2008, we walked along the beach in search of a place to eat.

Boracay Travel: White Beach (July 27, 2008)
The long stretch of sand and water at Boracay is called White Beach. That's where they have Boat Stations 1 to 3. I don't know if it's just me, but the sand at Boracay appeared whiter to me years ago. The sand is still very fine and never gets too hot for your feet but it just appears less white these days.

Boracay Glass Boat

Boracay Trip: Glass Bottom Boat Tour (August 3, 2008)
We wanted to do something different (or something we haven't tried before) on this Boracay trip, so we decided to go on Boracay's Glass Bottom Boat Tour. It was alright although I thought it was quite expensive at P750 each for individuals aged six years old and above and P300 for kids aged 5 years old and below.

Boracay Vacation: Luna Rossa Restaurant (August 9, 2008)
Just a short walk from Boracay Tropics Resort Hotel, we had dinner at Luna Rossa one night. The place serves Italian food but the serving sizes are quite small for the price that they charge. We spent P1,000 for our dinner and we weren't really full. We just wouldn't go hungry for the night. In other words, bitin. But here's what we liked...

Spa de Tricia at Boracay Tropics Resort Hotel (August 10, 2008)
I live for massages and each time that I go on vacation, I make it a point to go for a massage if the service is available at the resort. At Boracay Tropics Resort Hotel, there's Spa de Tricia and a one hour massage costs P500.

D' Mall in Boracay (August 16, 2008)
The last time we were in Boracay (which was years ago prior to this vacation in 2008), D' Mall wasn't even around yet. So during this year's visit, we made it a point to check out D' Mall, which is five minutes away by multicab from Boracay Tropics Resort Hotel. You can also actually walk to D' Mall and this should take you about 20 minutes.

Aria in D'Mall Boracay (August 18, 2008)
We dropped by Aria in D' Mall Boracay for an afternoon snack. The servings were medium-sized so we were happy. This is what we ordered...

La Carmela de Boracay's Dinner Buffet (August 24, 2008)
On our last night in Boracay during our 2008 summer vacation, we decided to treat ourselves to a buffet. We had two requirements: something that would not require us to walk too far (we had a complaining 6-year old with us) and one which was reasonably priced.

Videoke at Boracay Tropics Resort Hotel (August 24, 2008)
On our last night in Boracay last summer, we decided to go videoke with the kids. Assuming the Philippines does not change too much in the coming years, having the skill (and the guts!) to sing at a videoke will be an important social tool for the kids so they might as well practice while young.
