Teddy Casiņo, in his column Fast Forward in one of the local newspapers, Business World, writes about "A Bleak Merry Christmas" today.

I guess a lot of people share his views. The year 2001 was not an easy one, locally, nor internationally so it may be difficult to find the positive side to anything. He talks about trying to get into the Christmas spirit - by doing all the things that come with the season, particularly for us Filipinos: shopping, gift-giving, attending Midnight mass, having noche buena. He laments the fact though that he feels that Edsa II is in need of a sequel (which I disagree with)and talks about going to the movies when "all hope is gone." [more]

Just went to the 6th day of the simbang gabi (dawn masses here in the Philippines during the Christmas season from December 16-24) this morning. Must really be getting older. It's not that difficult anymore to wake up early (about 4:30am) and I don't get too sleepy during the mass proper. [more]

We finally got to catch the movie Harry Potter last weekend. I enjoyed it a lot and it has succeeded in making me want to read the books. I have not read a single Harry Potter book yet (yes, such creatures do exist)but I guess before the next movie comes out, I would have been able to finish a book or two. [more]
