The seminar will be held on October 29, 2009, 1 to 5pm, at the Hope Center, Ground Floor, Aurora Milestone Tower, 1045 Aurora Blvd., Quezon City. [an error occurred while processing this directive]The seminar is ideal for individuals who need to handle victims of disasters, in the light of recent typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng. These include counselors, HR practitioners, administrative personnel of schools, organizations, companies, baranggay officials, BEC coordinators, and heads of families. The objectives of Critical Incident Stress Management: Debriefing the Debriefers plus Practical Disaster preparedness is to: provide crucial information on handling and processing persons affected by a critical incident or traumatic event; address the psycho-emotional needs of the debriefers; and teach ways to prepare for possible disasters. Participants will also learn about proposed interventions for particular age and grade levels. Conducting the seminar are Ms. Maria Pura Ordona and Mr. George Ordona. Ms. Ordona is a professional psychologist and counselor. Her academic background includes graduate studies in Counseling at the University of the Philippines, Diliman and Family Psychology in Miriam College. Her fields of specialization are Family Therapy, Parenting, Psycho-educational assessment, Stress Management, and Personal Growth. Mr. Ordona, on the other hand, is a trained Paramedic from the Philippine National Red Cross and the Armed Forces of the Philippines. He is also an environmentalist, a rescue diver, and a mountaineer who co-founded the SIKAP BUNDOK mountaineering group that fulfills its mission of helping needy residents in the mountains.
