A Mother's Day Gift IdeaIt is May 10, 2009 and the whole world celebrates Mother's Day. It is good to set aside a day of the year to remember all mothers who have unselfishly given of themselves to make us, their children, who we are today. [an error occurred while processing this directive]I am a mother myself and at this time, I really cannot think of anything that my kids can give me that will make me happier or happiest. Well, maybe a 15-minute massage... All I wish for is that they be healthy, happy, and that they grow to be God-fearing, helpful individuals who will use their talents to the full. Have you already bought your mother a gift for today? If you are based in the Philippines (or even if you are based abroad, you may order by sending e-mail to Claretian), even if it may sound self-serving, I suggest you check out the book Mom's A Stewardess (Or Why There is No Vacation from Your Vocation) -- Stories of Stewardship, published by Claretian Publications and written by Angelica Bautista Viloria (yes, that's me!). The book is available at National BookStore, Powerbooks, and BestSellers branches. You may also e-mail me directly to inquire about how to get hold of signed copies. Before you visit the nearest bookstore branch, I suggest you call first to ask if they still have copies on hand. The book is already out of stock in some branches so it is best not to waste your time. If they are out of stock, please have them take down your name for future orders so that they can advise you when stock is again available. The last time I checked, there were still copies available at BestSellers at the Robinsons Galleria branch in Ortigas. Behind each success that we experience, is the influence of a mother. I owe my own mother (now 84 years old) the start of my interest in writing. At a time when I was not interested yet (I was just 11 years old then), she bought me those small notebooks and dictated (yes, dictated) that I write down everything that we did during our earliest travels to other countries. I didn't enjoy doing my travel journals then but I guess the practice and the habit of noting everything down gave me the practice that I badly needed. So, when the title of my book says Mom's A Stewardess (as in she teaches her kids about Stewardship), it actually refers to the influence that our mothers, my mother included, have on all of us little children and the things that we value in life. So if you cannot find the words to thank your mother for who you are today, you may want to buy her a copy of the Mom's A Stewardess book. To all mothers out there, Happy Mother's Day. To my very own mother, Happy Mother's Day!
