Birthday Parties at Marta's Cakes!

Sometime back, my daughter Ali turned seven years old. For some reason (age and workload perhaps), I did not have the energy nor the motivation to hold a party which would have 100 or so guests coming, with details to take care of like party venue, food, loot bags, party decorations, etc. It was then that I decided that I would just have a different type of party for her and in my search, I found Marta's Cakes!

When I attend parties with my daughter, she does not really participate much in the party games. She enjoys doing quiet activities like coloring and painting more. She is also quite creative that when I suggested the thought of having a party with a small group of friends doing cupcake and cookie decorating and making candy bracelets, she got quite excited. We had our party at the Serendra branch at Bonifacio High Street in Bonifacio Global City. I booked with Ms. Alice Tuazon who was very helpful and efficient. On the day of the party itself, our party host was Ms. Macy who was very lively and nice in entertaining the kids and taking care of all our concerns. While the price of the party packages can be a bit pricey (on a total and on a per head basis), if you think about it, how much is your time worth? I just had to make one or two calls, made one visit to make a downpayment and get all the details, and that was it. Everything else was fixed in one go. From the invitations, to the cake, to the food, to the activities, to the hosting. No more lootbags to take care of since the cupcakes and cookies that the kids decorate will already be the things that they can take away.

Going through the party (two hours only at the store) was also more relaxing than usual. The kids enjoyed themselves as they created their own designs while the parents helped out and enjoyed themselves too. In fact, I want to go back to Marta's Cakes to do some cupcake and cookie decorating myself. It's a good stress reliever! One of the moms who attended the party actually asked: "Bakit ba walang ganito nung bata tayo?" ("How come they didn't have this when we were young?")

The Serendra Store is visually appealing and is small and cozy enough to accommodate only a few guests so you are sure to have a nice get-together with only a small group. The problem with big parties is that they sometimes get unwieldy and you aren't really able to enjoy the party or talk to your guests.
