Concert for A Cause: High FidelITy

March is upon us and when I think of March, I think of summer and school graduations. It has been 25 years since I left high school but Batch 84 of what was then known as Poveda Learning Centre will be hosting the homecoming in 2010, together with Batch 85, with 2010 being our school's (now known as St. Pedro Poveda College) 50th year.

As a way to start preparations and activities for our 25th year celebration and for Poveda's 50th year, Batches 84 and 85 invite everyone to High FidelITy, a concert featuring two bands: Midlife Crisis (playing '70s music) and 8-Track Band (playing '80s music). If you were in high school in the early to mid '80s, then you will probably be very familiar with the songs they will be playing. You can feel young (well, you still are young since you would be my age), let me say, you will feel younger again.

High FidelITy will be held at Strumms on Jupiter Street, Makati. This will be from 7pm and onwards on March 30, 2009. Tickets sell for P500 each, inclusive of a free drink and a raffle ticket.

Proceeds from ticket sales will help prepare for the 2010 homecoming, will be donated to Poveda, and will also go to helping Makabata Foundation, a scholarship foundation for streetchildren. At present, Makabata Foundation sponsors 120 students with streetchildren receiving free education, uniforms, textbooks, and meals.

So for all Poveda students, graduates, and parents, this is a chance for you to give back to your school while enjoying good music. Everybody, however, can take this as a chance to go out with friends, take a break, while helping a good cause like Makabata Foundation.
