How to be A HeroToday, one day after Philippine Independence Day, I lend my space to my son Adi. He was asked to write a paragraph in school yesterday about How to be a Hero. [an error occurred while processing this directive]With his permission, here is his write-up: How to be a Hero "To become a hero, one must do a certain deed that is good. A hero does not do good for fame, glory, or even money. Everyone can be a hero. If you want to be a hero, you must get rid of bad habits. These habits are bad deeds repeated. You could be called a hero by defending a classmate from a bully. Every hero must start small and their deeds grow bigger. Being a hero means putting others before himself. Sometimes, like Jose Rizal, one must sacrifice himself for the greater good. Remember, 'With great power, comes great responsibility.'" What can I do, my son is a Spiderman fan? Still, I thought he had the main ideas of what really makes a hero and he does know Jose Rizal. =) Being selfless. Doing good without expecting anything in return. Improving the world right where you are. Knowing that you have it in your hands to improve this world even just a wee bit. Belated happy independence day everybody. So, will you be the Philippine's next hero? [By Angelica Viloria | Wednesday, June 13, 2007] [an error occurred while processing this directive]Copyright © 2001-2012 by Angelica Bautista Viloria.
