Update on the Guimaras Book Drive

Several weeks back, I wrote about a Guimaras Book Drive that my MBA batchmate Anna Rojas was starting. Well, here's an update.

The book drive generated an overwhelming response. Anna has managed to meet "strangers...but kindred spirits" as she picked up book donations. The books that have been collected are now being inventoried and will be shipped out to Guimaras by the third week of March 2007.

Given the overwhelming response to the book drive, more book drives may be started -- one for a community in Cavite, and possibly in Quezon. So, if you still have books that you are not using but can still be helpful to others, you can still contribute to the next book drives.

With the Guimaras Book Drive project, Anna has met other people, one of whom has also shipped boxes and boxes of books to the Mountain Province. It is their dream to set up reading rooms and mini libraries nationwide. Do you share their dream? If you do, send me e-mail and maybe you can tell us how you can be of help.

Through this project also, a donor gave 20 computers to the Sta. Teresa High School.
