Stress

I was out for dinner with some friends last night and we started talking about stress and the events that cause them. One of my friends promised to send me a stress questionnaire one of these days just to find out how stressed I am.

Stress is farthest from my mind these days. Since I left the corporate world more than two months ago to take a break, my days have been happier and more relaxed. In fact, I can daresay that so far, this has been the happiest phase of my life. Well, except perhaps on the 15th and 30th of every month. =)

I found myself with a group of young people recently and the topic was how people handle stress. Here are some of their answers:

They surf the net.
They play online games.
They count from 1 to 10. If that does not work, they count till 20.
They take a nap.
They light a cigarette.
They read pocketbooks.
They listen to music.
They eat chocolates.
They use their stress balls.

As for me, I write, I pray, I play with my kids. I probably mutter to myself, "This too shall pass." I will probably try to do something about the thing which is causing my stress and if I can't do anything, I'll just go with the flow.

Everyone gets stressed out every now and then. It's a fact of life. Everything, though, is just a matter of perspective. I think I've said this before, when you get stressed, just remember (as I read somewhere) that STRESSED is just DESSERTS spelled backward. Even a problematic situation can turn out sweet in the end. That's if you hang around long enough to taste it. Have a stress-free weekend everyone.
