Sumo Sam at The Ledge, Shangrila Plaza Mall

I finally got try try Sumo Sam at the 6th Level of the Shangrila Plaza Mall in Mandaluyong City. The place (with its numerous restaurants), which used to be called Gourmet Walk, is now called The Ledge.

I had attempted to eat at Sumo Sam twice but each time I would go, the place was always full. Thus, it is best to make a reservation. Here are their contact numbers in Metro Manila: 910 0388 or 637 5704 or +63922 817 7003.

The rolls I tried (i.e. Philadelphia and Chicken Teriyaki) were quite good. The Philadelphia roll had a generous amount of Philadelphia cheese and a slice of salmon inside. Both rolls were quite tasty and had good texture and consistency.

I was with a group so we ordered a set menu (which was good for four). I forget now what it's called. It had grilled meats/chicken, tempura, tofu, fried rice and oysters. It was very filling. The servings were quite generous for a group of 4. Pricing is quite reasonable. Sumo Sam's prices are in between fastfood and fine dining.

If you order the set menu (there are several but some sets are not available on Fridays and weekends), you also get the chance to pick a prize and the prizes include: an IPOD shuffle, a cellphone, gift checks, an umbrella, and keychains. My friend got a keychain but it was cute. =)

Did I like the food? It was alright and very reasonably priced. I will be back to try the other items on the menu.

As for the other restaurants located at The Ledge, there's good, old reliable Mongkok. Penang, serving Asian Food is alright while I find the food at Green Tomato quite bland, ordinary, and quite expensive given the quality. As soon as we get to try the other places there, I will let you know how the meal turned out.
