On Family Trees and Family History

Relatives on my father's side are planning a reunion sometime next year. To start preparations, some cousins of mine have distributed questionnaires to build a family database and also to slowly complete our family tree.

My nun-cousin, who seems to be the one busy with putting the family tree together, says she sent us copies of what she has accomplished so far. I asked her: "Any convicted criminals so far? Or are we a family of super-high achievers?" I don't think she answered my question. I wonder what she has discovered.

Anyway, it is a good idea to trace one's roots, if only to understand and appreciate ourselves and our families more. If you are interested in coming up with your own family tree, you may want to check out the Family History Fair at Market!Market! at Bonifacio Global City. The Fair, which will be from September 25-30, 2006, with be at the 4th Level of Market!Market from 10am to 9pm. By visiting the Fair, you may learn the basics of genealogy; learn about searching through microfilmed records; and you will be introduced to Pedigree worksheets.

Genealogy is the "record of descent from an ancestor." Interested? Trek to Market!Market! and have a blast learning about your past!
