The U.P. Singing Ambassadors

I was in my car on my way to work this morning, listening to Mike Enriquez on DZBB as usual, when I chanced upon the U.P. Singing Ambassadors on his program. I was lucky!

Irritating and frustrating political news gave way to beautiful, melodious voices. They sang "Minsan Lang" ("Minsan lang kita iibigin, minsan lang kita mamahalin...") and surprise, surprise, the Viva Hotbabes' "Bulaklak" (complete with boomtiyaya boomtiyaya ye ye ye) -- and it sounded so different but still amusing.

The group comes home fresh from its victories in competitions in Europe and it is very easy to hear (hindi see, ha?) why they won. They will have a concert at 7pm, on October 22 at the Philamlife Auditorium. Does anybody know where tickets can be bought? (Note: Update as of October 18, 2005 -- Reader J writes to say that for ticket reservations, please call 924-93-78. Thanks for the info!)

If our politicians bring us heartbreak and depression, our artists, undoubtedly, make us proud. I wonder if they will sing U.P. Naming Mahal, at their concert? I like that song so. =)
