It's summer in the Philippines and you know what that means? Vacation time. So aside from choosing which destination or resort to go to, make sure you have everything you need for for that trip you are planning.

Knapsacks are blessings to parents who travel with kids. It can carry a whole lot of stuff while keeping your hands free. We are four in the family -- 2 adults and 2 kids. When we travel, mom, dad, and Adi each have our own knapsacks while lucky Ali just enjoys the trip. In a few more years, she'll be lugging her own stuff too. I have a Kipling knapsack which has served me well over the last 20 years (yup, dates back to college) and it is still around.

You may want to get hold of belt bags too, handy flashlights, and nice plastic bags which can hold your wet stuff, just in case you are going to the beach. In the tiangges last year, I found some paper soap (thin strips of soap)which are very convenient to carry around and use in public toilets where soap is usually not available. For the local stores, you may want to check out stores like SM or Robinsons Department Store, also more specialized shops like Nothing But Water, SPF, or Watsons.

You may also like searching on the internet for good buys. I did a search sometime ago and would you believe the things I found: an automatic plant waterer, ear plugs for your kids when they go swimming, polish remover pads, etc., etc. The list is endless and can drive you crazy. I'll write about those soon.

In the meantime, enjoy your vacation. Travel. Travel. Travel.
