Children's Book Review: Franklin in the Dark by Paulette BourgeoisWHAT IS IT ABOUT? Another book about cute turtle Franklin. Here we learn about Franklin's fear -- fear of the dark, and that's quite difficult considering he needs to stay in his shell -- which is dark. [an error occurred while processing this directive]WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT THIS BOOK? It's very entertaining. We meet a duck afraid of water, a lion afraid of loud noises, a bird afraid of heights, and a polar bear afraid of cold nights. The drawings are cute and the ways the animals think of to deal with their fears are quite amusing. WHAT DO OUR KIDS LEARN? Our kids learn that it's okay to have fears. Even mommies (!) have fears. More important though than being fearless, is learning how to face our fears, deal with them, and move on. An important life lesson, if you ask me -- dealt with in a fun way.
