I bought this book a few summers ago to keep my son Adi occupied. It's actually an activity and story book so aside from reading the main story, kids can enjoy doing puzzles, mazes, playing board games - it's pretty much like going to camp yourself -- at home! WHAT DO OUR KIDS LEARN? Kids learn that it's okay to be apprehensive about new activities. At the start of the story, we see Franklin worrying a bit about day camp since this was an all new experience for him. As the story progresses though, we see Franklin learning new things and enjoying himself in the process. Kids will put to test their problem-solving and puzzle-solving skills with the various activities in the book. A lot like life, right? As we go from day to day, we solve various puzzles and problems. There may be new and worrisome experiences at the start but everything teaches us a lesson or two. So life is just one huge day camp!
