Lea Salonga's Latest Musical in Manila

You still have until September 5, 2004 to catch Lea Salonga's latest musical, called Baby, at the Meralco Theater. You may get your tickets at all Ticketworld outlets. For those in the Ortigas area, tickets are available at the National BookStore, Shangri-la Plaza branch. Best to call first though, just to make sure that tickets are not sold out yet.

We needed a break from our "babies" so last August 22, we took time to watch Baby. The musical was entertaining, funny and heartwarming at the same time - very much like having kids. The casting is perfect - from Lea Salonga and David Shannon, to Agot Isidro and Jett Pangan, to Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo and Miguel Faustmann. Watch out for the following songs which are my personal favorites: At Night She Comes Home to Me, Fatherhood Blues, The Story Goes On, and Easier to Love.

At intermission, one of the ladies behind us said quite loudly (and I surmise, she did not have kids): "Hindi naman ako maka-relate..." I took note of that -- and the hubby went on to say quite jokingly: "Be careful what you say...for it may end up in a blog."

Anyway, go out and watch Baby. It will probably entertain you more if you are a parent but then again, great music and performances know no particular status. ;-)
