The book shows us and our kids the effort that is taken by different people for us to have our pancakes for breakfast. Kids will learn about the different ingredients for pancakes and will probably pick up a some new words for their vocabulary (e.g. sickle, chaff, flail). WHAT DO OUR KIDS LEARN? Our kids learn that not everything is made ready in an instant. In most things, it takes time, effort, and a lot of preparation to have the things that we want. Kids learn patience - at the same time as Jack - as Jack goes through each stage of preparing for his pancake. Even if things look quite easy, kids learn that they should never take the efforts of others foregranted. In the meantime, parents learn to be thankful for pancake mixes!
