Christmas Shopping at OMF Literature

Power Books. National Book Store. Toy Kingdom. Tiangges and easy-to-go-to Bazaars. These make up our "musts" as we do our Christmas shopping. Starting last year, we have added OMF Literature to our list.

OMF Literature is located at 776 Boni Avenue, cor Pinatubo St., Mandaluyong City. Their phone numbers are 531-21-83 or 531-01-41. They are open from 9am -7pm on Saturdays. That's the only sked I'm familiar with since that's when I get to go but I'm sure the schedule is not too different on weekdays.

OMF sells largely religious and inspirational items. We were there last Saturday which was good timing as they had a 15% discount sale on most items. A few of their books are available also at National Bookstore and some you can get at a lower price at OMF.

There were other people doing their shopping then. I asked one of the sales staff if their sales dramatically increase prior to Christmas. He answered: "Opo, pag Pasko ho kasi parang galit ang mga tao." "Galit sa pera?" was my reply.

That same staff likewise said that they were now all out of The Purpose Driven Life (by Rick Warren) which everyone seems to be looking for. New stocks are expected to arrive this week and their price is lower than National Book Store's P175. Manuel and I are reading that book - and we actually thought of buying it also to give away as gifts but we didn't see it at OMF (out of stock nga e) so we ended up buying other things. That was probably for the best as the staff jokingly commented that he has been telling customers: "Baka mag-exchange gift kayo niyan ng The Purpose Driven Life."

Anyway, you may want to check out this no-frills bookstore. Lots of books on tables, the floors, and shelves. You just have to spend time looking and choosing so go when you're not rushing. The staff are likewise pleasant and helpful. So go grab a book that will remind people of the real reason for the season. Happy shopping!
