Catholic Church Details, New Delhi

Catholics are a minority in India so we thought it best to ask about Sunday mass schedules and the location of the church early enough. As we flew in at about 2am, Sunday morning, it was prudent to find out the schedules beforehand so we could plan our day accordingly.

Staff at The Oberoi hotel, where we stayed and which is about 30-45 minutes away from the airport were very helpful in getting the information we needed. We heard mass at 11:30am at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Goledak Khana near the Post Office. There are only two English masses -- one at 9am (which was obviously too early for us) and one at 11:30am. The mass schedules change depending on the season so it is best to check beforehand.

We arrived at the church early so we managed to look around - enjoying the flowers in their garden and looking at the signs/markers (e.g. Plant a tree. Get oxygen free.)inside the church compound.

Anyway, it was good to have heard mass first as a way to start our stay in India - a country where we find Hindus, Moslems, Sikhs (they're the ones with the turbans), and Catholics alike.

How'd we find the church and how did we find our way around? Map in one hand and a persistent driver whom you may wish to contact if you are in New Delhi. Stay tuned.
