When Adi Grows UpFor now, my son Adi wants to be a chef when he grows up. A chef who'll cook spaghetti and french fries. There was a time when he wanted to be a veterinarian. He then said he'll work at the Manila Zoo on weekdays and at Taronga Zoo on weekends. We could even live with him in his house in Australia. [an error occurred while processing this directive]I don't know. Maybe he'll be a broadcaster. He loves the microphone and loves to talk. Imagine talking non-stop on a 3-hour car ride? That's more than a radio program already. Or maybe he'll be a reporter. "Mommy, Ali's crying..." even if you can hear her howls for yourself. Or maybe he'll be a pedia. He loves kids. I guess we took too long to give him a baby sister... Anyway, whatever he eventually becomes, I just hope he's happy. It would make me happier though if he were his own boss. Writing this piece about what kids want to be when they grow up reminds me of this comic strip I saw once. A kid is shown walking with an adult in a place surrounded by nuclear bombs, etc. The adult asks the kid: "What do you want to be when you grow up?" The kid answers: "Alive?" Here's to all kids. May they grow up happy and healthy in a world which will allow them to live out their dreams...
