Birth and Tying SweatersStill have not given birth. Happy Valentine's Day, by the way. Anyway, I still came to work today and since I was carrying quite a handful, I decided to tie my sweater around my waist as I usually do. What was I doing with a sweater here in Manila? Well, it can get pretty cold in our office and I don't want to risk getting sick too close to my due date. [an error occurred while processing this directive]The nice, elderly lady who operates one of the elevators here at our building cheerfully greeted me: "Happy Valentine's!" Then her eyes turned to my sweater tied around my waist. She then tells me to take it off as the oldies say this may lead to a difficult birth. Don't ask me why. It's just one of those things. Like husbands avoiding putting towels around their necks as the umbilical cord may eventually get tied around the baby's neck. She proceeds to ask me if I've been doing that before (she knows I already have one child) and I didn't have the heart to tell her, I've been doing this for as long as I've been alive. Anyway, I did do Lamaze the last time and did give birth without any anesthesia. Still, it wasn't particularly easy. Needless to say, as I stepped out the elevator, my sweater was off my waist.
