FiestaToday, January 9, is the Feast of the Black Nazarene. Here in the Philippines, devotees will troop to Quiapo Church where the cross-bearing, dark-complexioned Christ will be brought out of the Basilica to go around the nearby areas, in procession. The procession starts at about 2pm and lasts till early evening. [an error occurred while processing this directive]I don't know now where I read this, but it has been said that how the procession goes today is taken as an indication of how the rest of the year will be for us, Filipinos. If the procession goes on smoothly, then the year 2002 will be relatively lighter for everyone and will be a breeze. If the procession is marred by disorder and if it is difficult for the statue to move throughout its route, then it will be another trying year, marked by challenges. Well, let's hope the procession goes smoothly today. The year 2001 was "interesting" enough. Then again, with faith, there really is nothing to fear. So 2002, should be another good year, no matter what.
